This snarling lioness has clearly bitten off more than she can chew after confronting a waterbuck as it tried to get out of a watering hole.

But the plucky Defassa waterbuck stood its ground as the big cat prowled the bank and took tentative swipes with its paws.
As the standoff continued, the adult waterbuck responded by lowering its horns and waving them menacingly in front of its hunter.
It then charged the startled big cat just as she was about to pounce.
But instead of tearing into its prey, the lioness lost her nerve and bolted from the scene, leaving the waterbuck to go on his way.
